During my freelance period with the great little agency Happy South, we were lucky enough to produce a mobile web app to support the 50 Books You Can't Put Down campaign for Get Reading. The purpose of the app was to allow users to search through the 50 Books You Can't Put Down book listing, and then locate a place to purchase or borrow the book. Also included are features on the authors and Get Reading events, searchable via state and month.
The loading graphic mirrors the Guide front cover. A prompt asking first time users to save the app to their homescreen appears once content is loaded.
User selects via the navigation options which genre they'd like to search for a book under.
The titles for each genre is revealed.
A synopsis of the novel is revealed, plus the option to read the first chapter (pdf download) or find out about the author.
Find a bookstore takes the user to the Bookstore listing, which loads Google Maps to reveal their closest store.
Alternatively, users can also search for their nearest library to borrow the book.
Users can also find any Get Reading events in their area.
